My favorite bird- the green heron. I like these birds because they look like darts when they're staring intently at the water. Also, I really like any tetrapod that decided to return to an aquatic lifestyle, and birds are a great example of this.

I'm happy with the foreground and I'm happy with the background, I'm just not sure if I'm happy with them together. Oh well, it's better than a lot of the crap I've been drawing lately so I won't criticize it too harshly :)

*edit: just cropped off the top of the drawing- I think I will do this to the original as well... pretty sure all those leaves at the top were what was detracting from the bird...

The level of intricacy that ~JacquelineRae employs with their work is thoroughly fascinating, and Green Heron stands out as the height of the artist's stylisation, seeming at once like woven silk and polished lacquer, altogether lustrous and offering much to enjoy. I had a pair of these little fellows that lived in a retention pond that backed up to my house. They were so much fun to watch creeeeeeping across the shore, hunched over and trying to stay hidden.
