Artist's Comments

I went birdwatching in Magee Marsh the other day and was absolutely taken back by the beautiful yellow coloration of the magnolia, blackburnian, yellow and prothonatary warblers.

I also got to see a few lifebirds that day: glossy ibis and american woodcock; so look forward to seeing some future artwork inspired by these too!

I apologize for the crappy colors in this: I had to photograph this on a cloudy day (i live in ohio- it's always cloudy). I had to adjust the colors in photoshop so a lot of the little feather details kind of got washed away. I will try to get a better version up soon though! :)

I love it! Very vibrant. :P Favorited.

I think the :+fav: says it all. I must say, however, that I am especially fond of that fire salamander.

Ha! My wife and I just took our nephew to the Kortright Nature Centre this week, and we saw the same black-capped fellow on the right of your painting. It's a good season for spotting brightly colored birds.

Jacqueline, your composition and colour choices have moved past excellent into astounding, if I may say so.

Thank you! Amphibians are kind of a brand new interest of mine, so I was just testing out how much I actually liked drawing them.

Thank you! I'm glad you like this one, I was pretty unsure about it. I liked it much more before I added the green to it. It had a lot of bold contrast between the black and yellow before I kind of evened out everything with the green. Oh well, live and learn, I might try and rework it in photoshop once I get my tablet working again.

Goldfinches don't get the credit they deserve. So what if they're extremely common, they're beautiful birds!
